Portugal: 16 flights to and from Lisbon airport cancelled as a result of a strike

Sixteen flights were cancelled to and from Lisbon airport over the weekend as a consequence of a three-day strike by airport workers, with more cancellations and delays more likely before the end of the mobilisations on Sunday night.

A spokesman for the striking National Union of Civil Aviation Workers (SINTAC) told local news agency Lusa that 90 per cent of workers took part today, in the strike action in Lisbon.

Today is the busiest day in terms of flights for the airport in question.

EasyJet and Brussels Airlines flights from Paris, Belgium, London, Bristol, Bristol and Manchester were cancelled both yesterday and today.

Neither airline immediately responded to Reuters’ request for comment on the developments.

A spokesman for Lisbon airport declined to confirm how many flights were cancelled, but said the number of cancelled flights would be made public by the end of the day.
